I'm slowly getting into this new curriculum with my class. I can't seem to find a list of what the fees and fines are for the class. They're asking how much they are getting paid now daily before they actually have a job. Do you have any suggestions?
I fine them $100 for anything I want to. That way I don’t have a list. As a teacher, you are the owner of the class. Make it easy on yourself.
You could also answer like this: They don’t get paid unless they have a job, and since they don't have a job and don’t work for you, you are not answering any questions. You would be more than happy to have them pay a $50 consulting fee for each question you need to answer, but unless they have a job they can’t pay that so they need to get a job.
Quote Confucius to them: “The man who chases two rabbits, catches neither.” They need to focus on getting a job and doing their work. The rest will come.
Too often the students will try to “Figure it out.” There is nothing to figure out. For most of their life in education success was based on figuring out what the teacher wants, and then giving that to them. In this class that doesn’t work. This is like real life. Get a job, pay your bills, and work very hard so you don’t go in debt.
